
Claude (Bud) Pate, REHS
Vice President, Content and Development
Mr. Pate serves as Vice President for Content and Development at The Greeley Company. He is a nationally recognized expert in patient flow and in hospital and health system regulation and accreditation with over 30 years experience in high profile problem solving.
Mr. Pate's patient flow work brings him to institutions and podiums across the country to solve one of healthcare's most daunting challenges: how to reliably and consistently bring patients into contact with emergency providers and how to quickly find an inpatient bed for admitted patients.
In the regulatory world, Mr. Pate has an unmatched track record for consultation under fire, helping institutions avoid adverse accreditation and certification actions while simplifying the challenge of ongoing compliance.
Mr. Pate is a regular speaker at national conferences with popular presentations on a wide range of topics, including The Joint Commission and CMS rules and requirements, mitigating hospital overcrowding by improving patient flow, patient safety and root cause analysis, and a host of other hospital and medical staff issues. He has six publications currently in print, including two books about patient flow, two about quality systems, and two dealing with The Joint Commission readiness.
Prior to joining The Greeley Company, Mr. Pate spent 15 years as an executive consultant and director of licensing and accreditation at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. He previously was responsible for state licensing and Medicare certification for all hospitals, home care agencies, and clinics in Los Angeles County. He also represented the California and American Hospital Associations on various Joint Commission committees.
Mr. Pate has a B.A. in zoology and biochemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles. He holds a certificate in environment management from the University of Southern California, School of Public Administration, and is a registered environmental health specialist in the state of California.
